We help people in situations of vulnerability to maintain their home in adequate temperature conditions during the winter
Energy poverty is the inability of a household to satisfy a minimum amount of energy services for its basic needs, such as keeping the house in a climate suitable for health conditions (18 to 21ºC in winter and 25ºC in summer, depending on the criteria of the World Health Organization)
To deal with this situation, the Spanish Red Cross develops various social emergency aids that are aimed at covering basic needs and supporting families to face the most serious situations to which they are subjected..
Energy poverty affects health, the academic performance of minors, decreases social contacts, hinders job search and forces families to enter the food or heating dilemma, having to face the payment of energy supplies can mean decrease spending on food.
Its impact on the health of people is serious, since the cold and permanent humidity in a home can lead to serious respiratory problems such as asthma, bronchitis, etc.
