At Brain damage center of the Spanish Red Cross Lugo we use rehabilitation with virtual reality as an innovative tool in physiotherapy with the aim of helping to increase the results of traditional therapy. This system is simple and intuitive for the patient, seeing himself performing movements and actions in a simulated environment and arriving to have the sensation of being inside him. It also encourages their active participation and overcoming.
VirtualRehab is a virtual rehabilitation system aimed, among others, at people with acquired brain damage based on activities and specific tasks similar to those of interactive games. It is developed by expert neurologists, therapists, & nbsp; specialized researchers.
Virtualrehab Body is a set of therapy modules for the rehabilitation of the arms and legs. Each module presents content that can be easily customized to the level of disability of the patient. Uses a motion camera to detect the user's movements and reproduce them in the environment.
VirtualRehab Hands allows the practice of the motor skills of the hands in order to train the dexterity, the range of movement and the muscular strength and achieve a motor rehabilitation. Includes activities for flexion, extension and abduction of fingers and the ulnar and radial deviation of the wrist.
We also have a virtual reality simulator with a program developed specifically for the Spanish Red Cross Lugo specialized in the rehabilitation of homonymous hemianopsia (acquired brain damage that affects the visual field of the eyes). This system uses the Oculus Rift CV1 device, a joystick and a steering wheel, allowing customized therapies and individualized monitoring for each patient.
